Show uir f DECISIONS BYTHE SUPREME COURT The supreme court of Utah yoster-day yoster-day handed down a decision which prevents the placing of nominees of one party on tho ticket of a party securing a place on the ballot bv petition. pe-tition. The action was brought to compel the county clerk of Sevier county to place on the ticket of the Progressive Progres-sive party, under the Progressive party emblem, the names of Henry N. Hayes and E E Hoffmann, for Judge and district attorney These same two candidates were likewise named for these offices bj tho Democrats. The Progressives secured their place on the ballot by petition, and a recant re-cant law of LUah provides that a per-pon per-pon regularly named by a party, regularly reg-ularly In the field, cannot be placed on tho ticket of a partj which goes on the ballot bv petition. This ruling rul-ing of tho supremo court prevents any indorsements by tho Progressive party par-ty of candidates nominated by a regular reg-ular party convention. |
