RIVES Salt Lake, Oct 29 - Robert T Rives, a conductor on the Salt Lake Routq for the past eight yoars, died at the Holy Cross hospital yesterday afternoon after-noon after an illne3e of three months, aged 54 years. Mr. Rives made hie home in Callente, Nev , but was a member of the local lodge of Elks and was well known here. Taking n vacation about three mouths ago he went to Sallda, Colo., for a visit. The day after he arrived there ho wa- stilcken with pneumonia. He was 111 for eight weeks there and thon, at his request, was brought to this city In a rnvatc car and taken to the local hospital. hos-pital. As a result of the pneumonia attack at-tack the circulation was stopped in both legs, one after the other, and it was necessary to amputate them. The de--eeascd was horn In Glado Hill, Va., on May IS. 1.S58 and came to Colorado In 1S79, where he was employed as a conductor on the Denver &. Rio Grande for sixteen years. Ho came to Salt Lake In 1H02 and entered tho employ of the Salt Lake Route, running out of here for three yoars. Then ho moved to Callente, where he had made his home since. Mr. Rives leaves, besides his brother broth-er here, his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Lena Dobson, and a son, Fred, all of Callente. He Is also survived by two more brothers, W. T. Rives of Montrose, Mon-trose, Colo., and C. E. Rives of Los Angelas. Besides the Elks he was a member of tho Woodmen of the "World and tho Brotherhood of Railway Conductors. Con-ductors. His funeral will be In chargo of the local lodge of Elks and arrangements ar-rangements for the services will he announced later |
