Zabel, who is believed to be tho only Socialist Btate attorney in the country, gave throe specific reasons for deferring the trial of Johu Schrank, who shot Colonel Roosevelt, till the December sitting of the criminal crim-inal court. Ho said, first, that it was only reasonable to await the reaults of the colonel's Injury; second, he had no desire to hurry the defendant, and third, he thought It would be unwltje to call tho case before the prcBldenti-l campaign was qulto over. Mr. Zabel has flont an agent to Buffalo to cet the record of the trial of Czolgoar when ho was convicted of tho murder of President MoKinley. He thinks It will aid him when John aciuun.v, Roosevelt's assailant, is placed on trial. Tho two trials will differ owing to changea in proepduro, hb required by varying Btate laws and the seriousness seri-ousness of the offense, . |
