Abbey, field oxpert Industrial education at tho University Univer-sity of Utah, is spending a few days In Ogden in the Interest of the cultivation cul-tivation of vacant lots by the school children, which is being introduced by tho department of education at the state university. Professor Abbey Is consulting with Superintendent Mills, Professor Poter-son, Poter-son, Superintendent DrlggB and members mem-bers of- the Weber club regarding the organization of the work In Ogden, The purpose of the work is two-fold: First, to Interest children in activities activi-ties which will help solve the economic econom-ic problem of the home; and, second, sec-ond, to beautify the city and make It more attractivo to tho citizens and visitors. In Salt Lake City tho Commercial club took up the matter and through a generous contribution effected an organization which has already enlisted en-listed tho support of a large number of business and professional men. About 25 acres of land has boon plowed and It Is expected that it will reach 100 acres before the ground freezes.
