Show CONSTITUTION Of NATIVE SONS Salt Lake. Jan. 17. At a meeting last night of the Native Sons of Utah a -constitution was adopted and a committee pf ten wa3 appointed to select 100 men who aro to constitute the grand council, or Bupremo body of tho organization. The mooting was held In District Judgo Lewis' court room In the city and county bulldln Tho objects of the organization aro set forth in thc following preamble to the constitution: "This organization, the Natlvo Sons of Utah, is created for tho mutual benefit, montal improvement and social so-cial intercourse of its members; to perpetuate in tho minds of all native Utahns the memory of one of the most wonderful epochs In tho world'a history the settlement of tho Rocky Mountain territory to unlto them In one harmonious body throughout thc state by the ties of a friendship mutually mu-tually beneficial to all and unallojed by the bitterness of religious or political po-litical differences, tho discussion of which Is most stringently forbidden in its meetings; to elevate and cultivate culti-vate the montal faculties; to rejoice with one anothor in prosporltv and to extend tho hand of friendship In adversity. "Tho aim? and purposes, of the organization or-ganization are to improve the conditions condi-tions of Its members by encouragement encourage-ment in business nnd aiding them to obtain employment, and by extending assistance '"n time of sickness or need, to assist In the development of the wonderful natural resources of tho state, tp protect tho forests, conserve con-serve the waters and beautify tho cities cit-ies and towns, to preserve the to-mantlc to-mantlc history of Utah; to erect and encourage tho erection of monuments by which to commemorate important events; to arouse loyalty and patriotism patrio-tism for state and country, to maintain main-tain tho integrity of Utah and make her the brightest Jewel In tho crown of states." The constitution provides that thc organization is to bo known as the "Natlvo Sons of Utah." Only natlvo whltc-born males of Utah over IS years of age are to be eligible to membership. Thc discussion of religious re-ligious or political questions is forever for-ever prohibited Tho organization 15 to be composed of one grand council and such subordinate councils as may be created from timo to time. Tho first grand council Is to consist of 100 members. Tho officers of the grand council aro to be a president, five vico presidents, secretary, treasurer, sergeant-at-rcnis and a board of governors of fifteen members. Tho first grand council is to meet in Salt Lake January 23 next and subsequent annual meetings aro to be held January A each year at such placeas may be designated. A quorum of the grand council Is to consist of 25 per cent of its membership. member-ship. Tho following committee of ten was appointed to select the 100 members mem-bers of the first grand council, their selection to appear In thc local newspapers news-papers next Sunday morning: R. B. Thurman, Joseph Strlngfellow, C. B. Irvine. J. J. 'Wbitakor, Dana T. Smith, S. H. Love. C. L. Olsen, Joseph Kimball. Kim-ball. Julian Bamborgor, E. A. Rogers. ThlB committee also was authorized to insert In thc preamble a clause, tho sense of which shall be that while natives of other statos are not eligible eli-gible to membership, they are nevertheless never-theless welcome to thc state and that It was not Intended that thoy should be excluded from its advantages.
