McCloskey confirmed the ru- 4- mor, stating that Dan McCoy, manager of tho Empies6 the- -t- rf ater 4n Salt Lake, had re- -f placed Jack Cody in the Union -f association. "Cody will bo -fe 4- paid for all his holdings in -f connection with the Boise franchise, and ho is entitled to it," said MgCloskey. ! wired Hugh Kollacky yesterday -f morning, and expect him to meet me here some time to- -- A- day. We will go to Salt Lake 4- for a conference with Mr. Mc- Coy." 4- It Is rumored here that Dan McCoy, Mc-Coy, a Salt Lake amusement man, will bo awarded the Boise franchise in the Union association for this season. Piesident Lucas of the Union association associ-ation refused to confirm tho rumor, saying that he had nothing to say at present, but it Is understood that Jack Cody, who formerly had the franchise, has been asked to go to Salt Lake City to confer with McCoy in regard to the disposal to tho latter of tho Boise ball park. This means that tho expected has happened that McCoy has been awarded the Boise franchise recently taken away from J, W. Cody, who owned the club last season. President William H. Lucas of the Union association and John McClos-kej', McClos-kej', owner of the Ogden franchise, to whom the league Intrusted tho future fu-ture disposition of Boise affairs, held a mooting in Salt Lake on Monday, presumably to consider the application applica-tion of Dan McCoy for the Boise franchise. Mr. Lucas, when seen yesterday, said: "I have nothing to give out on that subject today as it is all premature. pre-mature. The leaguo instructed me to place the Boise franchise In good, reliable re-liable hands and I will say that I am working on that very thing right now." Both Cooley and McCloskey state, just as does Lucas, that "there Is nothing for publication," but all Indications In-dications point to the selection of Dan McCoy as tho man to succeed Cody It Is understood that McCoy proposes pro-poses to give Hugh Kollackey first call on the management of the Boise club, providing ho and the Bolso manager can got together on a salary sal-ary basis; also that McCoy will attempt at-tempt to lease the present Boise park from Cody, if tho latter will talk business, but that he Is also roady to build a new park in the event that Cody will not lease or sell. Kollackey already has many new men signed for 1912 and all of the reserve re-serve players on the Bolso roster belong be-long to the league so that McCoy, If he is sent to Boise, will not have a hard time to get under way by the time tho season opens. Dan McCoy, "the now Boise owner," own-er," Is well known In circus and theatrical the-atrical circles and has had a great deal of experience in catering to the public He Is at present resident manager for the Sullivan-Consldlne interests in Salt Lake. |
