Show TAX LEVY OF WEBER IS FIXED The board of county commissioners yesterday concluded their task of fixing fix-ing the rate of taxation for the year 1912 and looking over generally the financial situation-of the county. County Clerk Dye says tho commissioners commis-sioners succeeded in figuring the expenses ex-penses of the county for the ensuing year so as to get along with the saino rate of taxation as wa3 docided on last year The general levy for the county was fixed at S mills ion the dollar, which Includes the levy for general expenses, expens-es, care of tho poor, sinking fund for the redemption of outstanding bonds, county school funds and exhibit of county nioducts at the Four-State fair next fall Last jear four $1,000 bonds were redeemed, but tho same levy for the coming year will permit the commissioners com-missioners to redeem twelve $1,000 bonds, and $2,800 will be used for the fair exhibit. The tax for the Weber county school district, which embraces nil the schools outside of Ogden City, will be 7 mills on the dollar, apportioned appor-tioned as followst Maintenance .-...5.26 mills $23,398.76 Interest on bond6 .17 mills 917.83 Sinking fund . . .07 mills 379 93 Buildings and sites 1.50 mills SQ9S.50 Total revenues ?: $37,793.02 The levy for the Ogden city schools Is 8.7 mills, apportioned as follows: Maintenance ...G.2S mills $87,561 63 Int on bonds . .0G35 mills 8.S53.60 Sink fund ... .0305 mills 4.252.7G Buildings and sites 1.18 mills 20,635.51 Total revenue $121,303.53 A special road tax for the River-dale River-dale district of 3 mills was levied and also a special levy of 2 mills on horses and 4 mills on shoep to be used in the extermination ot wild animals. Aside from tho tax enumerated, the schools of the county will receive a county school tax of $32,88130, the Ogden district to get two-thirds of tho amount and thev school district outside out-side of Ogden the other one-third There will also be an apportionment from the state school funds that will amount to considerable. The total tax levy on city property, If the city council maintains the tax levy of 12 mills, as suggested in a resolution Introduced in the council last night and referred to the finance committee, will bo as follows: City tax 12. mills County tax s mills City schools 8.7 mni3 State tax 8 mills Total 36.7 mills This is 1.7 mills higher than last year and means an increase of revenue rev-enue to the city, of $37,885. The valuation of all assessable property in Weber county amounts to $19,341,939, Ogden City being possessed pos-sessed of about two-thirds of all the property, or $13,912,935. |
