Show MONUMENT TO TUB PIONEERS Denver. June 21. A Rreat granite monument surmounted by bronze figures fig-ures and groups, was unveiled here today In memory of the ploneerB who fifty-three years ago, In their uearca for gold, camped on the present site of Denver. Greon RubsoII and his party par-ty found gold and started a human flood from the east and. south Into the Pikes Peak country. The monument Is surmounted by an heroic statue of Kit Carson, mounted mount-ed and pointing onward. Bronze groups, all of which are the work of Frederick MacMonnles, representing "The trapper and hunter," "The minor min-or and prospector" and the "Pioneer mother" surround the base of the monument Miss Leona Wood, grand daughter of Kit Carson, pulled the cord that re-loascd re-loascd the draperies from the bronzo figures Governor Shafroth delivered jthe principal address. |
