Melton, a Pittsburg millionaire banker, In his attompt to secure a di vorco from his wife, Alton B. Parker, former chief Justice of the court o: Appeals, today made a plea to Governor Gov-ernor DIx not to honor the requisition requisi-tion of Governor Tenor of Pennsylvania Pennsyl-vania for the extradition of Albert George Curphey and Captain T W Klrkbrldge, residents of London, England, Eng-land, who are wanted to testify in the diorce proceedings Curphey and Klrkbridge were Indicted on a charge of refusing to obey a 6ubpoena to testify In the Mellon ease on June 14. The subpoenas were served June 11 and they left for New York on June 13 to consul'C with thejr lawyers Judge Parker contended that the men could not be extradited because they wore riot In the state of Pennsylvania at the time that the alleged offense was committed and therefore were not fugitives from justice. John D Llndsoy of Nov York, who appeared for the stato of Pennsylvania, contended con-tended that the crime began when the two men prepared to leave Pittsburg. 00 |
