Show CONVICTS ON THEIR WAY NORTH Thirty-seven convicts, two of whom are serving life sentences, passed through Ogdcn this morning on their way from the state prison at Salt '- vv. AVULl-UIIHUlilb rt"JF 111 Willard this morning. The trip was made on Oregon Short Line train No 13, two special cars being reserved for the prisoners' and their guards. The cars were detached from the train at this point and sent to the camp over the Oregon Short Line spur which has been built to the stockade None of the prisoners In tho crew are of the class' considered trusties all being long-time men. Each of tho men, however, is on his honor to be trustworthy while on tho road work. It Is said that many of the prisoners who were expecting to go to Willard and who were left behind, feel greatly great-ly disappointed, as the prospect to get beyond the prison walls for a few months was a most alluring one to them. In addition to better rations and a view of tho outside world, the men are to receive more credit marks for road work than for the regular prison duties. Actlvo work on the macadamizingof the Box Eldor road will start tomorrow Tho prisoners will work under the direction direc-tion of six guards. Only guards of lonr experience will be employed on the camp work. |
