Show COULD FIND NO UNION STEAMERS Chicago, July 17. Whether to take excursions on Lake Michigan boats not manned by union men or to stay I ashore and endure the hot nights, is a question vexing the minds of thousands thou-sands of union men in Chicago, following fol-lowing the report of the amusement committee of the Chicago Federation . of Labor yesterday. J It has been the intention of hundreds hun-dreds of local unions to treat their members to moonlight rides along the. lake shore during the hot summer nights. In order that only union boats might be used the committee investigated and found there are but two boats running from tho Chicago docks, according to tho report, which may be termed oven "near union " On these two beats there are, it is said, about four or five union seamen. i In one instance the cook is a union un-ion man, and in another there are two union musicians. i |
