Show WKJ CAR LINE EXTENDED TO TWELFTH SOUTH Residents Arc Jubilant at Having Transportation Facilities at Their Doors. SALT LAKE, July 16 The Utah Light apd Railway company opened the now extension of its lines on West Temple street from ,Tenth South to Twelfth South sjre'et yesterday, and from all reports, tho conductors and niotormen were cordially received when thoy ran out on tho new extension exten-sion for the first few trips. Tho first car ran out upon the new line at 6 21 o'clock In the morning and mnny of tho residents of that part of the city were asked to meet It and to tade a ride on the first car. Thoy tried to show thoir pleasure In every conceivable way Some of them had largo bouqnuets (or the car crews, while others brought fruit, candy, cof feo and cake It was not a half hearted heart-ed offer, for every one of those who met tho cars Insisted that the men "have something" with them. Almost every car throughout the forenoon was cheered lustily by the youngsters who lined tho track. Tbo people In that section of the city liavo been trying to get a street car line to their homes some time and thoir happiness at seeing this move realized could scarcely bo expressed ex-pressed The sen Ice is even better than it wns thought it would be, and better than It has horetoforo been on tho West Temple street line. Thero Is now a 20-minuto service to Tenth South Until yesterday tho nearest line to the residents on the new extension ex-tension was that on State street, whore the cars wore usually crowded. It Is thought by tho officers of tho company thnt the new line will not pay at first, but It will bo tho cause of new houRes being built and thoy expect ex-pect to be well repaid for making the extension The rails of the newly laid track arc of heavy steel and the ' roadbed Is level an in excellent con- j" dltlon.
