Show UNION SERVICE AI IU. CHURCH Despite the fact that last night was the warmest Sunday night of the year, tho large First MelhodlBt church was well filled at the United servlco of tho churches. The pastor, Rev. Frederick Vlning Fisher, presided, prayer wa6 offered by tho Rev. John "Edward Car-cr Car-cr and tho scripture lesson read by Rev. Harry D. Zimmerman. MIbs Nellie Ramey sang "Immanucl" after the prayer. The Rev. Frank G. "Bralnerd, pastor of the First Congregational church, was the preacher of the evening. Mr. Bralnerd preached a very strong sermon ser-mon on "Where Life Abounds." Contrary to the usual Ideas of men that we are at our best in our hours of play or of work, he showed that the real Inner llfo of a man, the best within him, comes to the front In Its fullness only in the quiet hours of life The cuddle hour of childhood, the talk hour of boyhood, the hour when the young man dreams of life and love, the hour when business is over for the mature man, when the children are kissed and put to bed, and he settles back to think over his life and plans; these arc the cholcost and most helpful help-ful hours of life, the ones which bring us nearest God, claimed the minister. Tn closing the preacher decried the tendency in the busy ape to crowd out of our llve lhcso'"nulet hours, and urged men everywhere to let no work or social life cause them to lose these times when they were at their beat and In closest touch with God. ThcBe united services arc proving very attractive, and for the sake of those who may not go to the Chan-tauque Chan-tauque such united services will be held for the next two Sundays at the . Presbyterian church, and during the month of August they will be held In the morning at the other churches In succession, beginning with the Baptist on the first Sunday In August. |
