Show Artie Circle falls but hold onto league lead Arctic Circle 6 1 Lions 5 3 Jaycees 4 3 Ron's Sporting Goods ...3 4 Elks 3 5 Jones Motors 1 6 Lions Club pulled the upset of the week when they defeated Arctic Circle Friday night, but the loss was not enough to shake the Arctic Circle crew out of their first place standing. Lions took a 9 to 5 win over the league leaders behind the pitching pit-ching of Larson and McDonough. Lions lead all the way scoring three runs in the second, four jn the fourth and a pair in the fifth. Arctic Circle came on strong in the sixth inning with all five of their runs scored on three hits including home runs by Soderquist and Issacson Soderquist and Isaacson also shared mound duties for Arctic Circle. Lions got a home run from Jones in the contest. Lions moved into secondplace by the end of play Friday night with another 9-5 victory, this time over Jones Motor. Berry and Aldred shared in the mound victory. It was a come from behind victory with Jones Motor leading 5-3 after five innings of play. Lions pushed in six runs on five hits including a home run by Wood in the sixth and final frame. Rhodes was on the mound for the losers. The close played contest of the week was the 6-5 victory by Elks over Ron's in an extra inning affair. Ron's lead through most of the game but Elks came on to tie it with a tally in the sixth sending the game into extra innings. In the seventh Riddle singled for Elks and came on to score the game tieing run. Giles for Elks and Jones for Ron's pitched the first six innings. In the extra inning Bladen picked up the win and Bauer suffered the loss. Jaycees, picked up a win Friday evening 12-3 over Jones Motor .Tnvppoo nnchoH in civ runs on three hits in the first inning including a home run by Edwards and coasted to the victory. Laid and Black shared mound duty for the winners while Bowen and Baggs hurled f6V Jones Motor. In the only other game of the week it was Ron's picking up a 7-5 victory over Jaycees. Neilson led the victory pace hurling the win and having a perfect day at the plate with a home run,' double and single to his credit. Gubler and Lunt were on the mound for .' the losers. |
