Show Battle tightens in Senior Little League 13 Friday evening pushing in eight runs in the first inning and hanging on for the victory. Dave Wright and Eric Chamberlain hurled for UI with Phil Bishop and Tuttle seeing mound duty for the losers. TWA came up with eight runs in the third, but UI added six more in the fourth to put the game away. The second victory for UI was a 9-1 win over Ace Hardware. In that contest Charles Judd limited Ace to just four scattered hits in the contest. Robinson suffered the loss for the hardware crew. Parowan Merc captured a 15 to 7 win during the week behind the pitching of Johnson over TWA. Bradshaw and Bishop were on the mound for the losers. Parowan pushed in eight runs without benefit of a hit in the first inning and coasted to the victory. Two games were played at Parowan during the week. In the first Del Rich captured a 13-3 victory over the Snak Shak behind the two hit pitching of Rick Rollo. Robinson and Hulet saw mound action for the Parowan crew. Rollo collected 15 strikeouts in the victory. It was Southern Utah Mortuary scoring a slim 4-3 victory over Parowan Merc in the other game played at Parowan. A report on the game is found elsewhere on this sports pa. One of the tigntest games of the season was played Monday evening of this week with Del Rich scoring a 10-8 victory over Utah International. Rollo scored the mound victory, but not before giving up 10 hits to the UI bats. Eric Chamberlain suffered the loss giving up 12 hits in the evenly matched contest. Both hurlers collected 13 strikeouts. The game see-sawed back and forth with UI taking the early lead. Del Rich bounced back to take the initiative only to have UI push in three runs in the fourth to knot the score at 8-all after four innings. Neither team scored in the fifth or sixth and in the seventh Del Rich pushed in two runs and held on for the win. Chamberlain was the big hitter in the losing effort with 3 for 4 including in-cluding a double and two singles. For Del Rich Dave Gardner led all hitters with a perfect evening at the plate with 3 for 3 including a double and two singles. Oscar Hulet was 3 for 4 including a triple and two singles.. Robert Morris scattered just four hits and gave up two runs in the first inning of play to pick up the mound victory. Walker Melling and Oscar Hulet were on the mound for the losers. The State Bank crew broke away from a slim 3-2 lead after two innings of play to two runs in the third and iced the victory with four tallies in the fourth. Canyonlands stayed in the thick of the battle with a win over State Bank during the week's action. Kelvin Orton was credited with the 13-6 victory, while Lance Prestwich, Morris and Daniels all saw action for the losers. The difference in the game was the third inning when Canyonlands pushed in seven runs on a single hit. Otherwise the contest was even. California-Pacific, one of the three teams tied for the lead, picked up a pair of victories during the week. The first win was an 8-5 victory over Snak Shak of Parowan. The teams battled to a 3-3 deadlock at the end of three frames, but the Cal- Pac crew pushed in five runs on one hit in the fourth frame for the victory. Kary Cox and David Middleton were on the mound for the winners with Robinson hurling for the losers. The second victory was a forfeit win over TWA Monday evening when the TWA crew could only field eight men for the contest.
