Show Ron's overpower foes to win National LL title Ron's Sporting Goods snatched away the National Little League championship for 1976 this past week with a pair of victories and an overall season record of 11 wins and 4 losses. Final league standings following the completion of play Monday evenings were: Ron's n ' 4 Town & Country 10 5 Lions 10 5 Jaycees 6 9 Elks 4 11 Arctic Circle 4 11 Ron's deominated their two games during the week with a 21-8 21-8 win over Arctic Circle and a 17-2 17-2 victory over Elks. Against Arctic Circle Morgan Evans and Todd Davis were on the mound. They pushed in 9 runs on 4 hits and 7 walks in the first inning and added 11 runs on three 'hits and 8 walks in the second frame. Only extra base hit for Rons was a double by Lyle Harrison. Arctic pushed in six runs in the third frame with the big hit a double by Craig Soderquist. It was Ricky Engle on the mound for Ron's victory over Elks. Again Ron's had the big inning with nine runs in the second inning. Lane Stobbe, LaMon Widick and K. C. Jones were on the mound for Elks. For Ron's David Bauer and Engle each hit doubles. Elks collected only two hits including a double by Matt Bulloch. Fittingly the final game of the season played Monday evening was an extra inning affair with Lions coming from behind to defeat Elks 54 to stay in a tie for second place in the final stan dings. Elks pushed in a pair of runs in the fourth frame to break a 2-2 deadlock and lead 4-2. But Lions came on strong in the bottom of the sixth to push in two runs to tie the score and send the game into an extra inning. In the extra inning Lions pushed in a winning run on a double by John Cannon. Mike Willden and Cannon were on the mound for Lions with K. C. Jones and Kevin Garrett hurling for Elks. Town and Country, who lead the league through most of the season picked up a pair of victories vic-tories in the final week's action to remain tied for second place. They downed Jaycees 8-3 and came from behind to down Arctic Circle 5-4. It was Mark Rollo and Lonnie Stout on the mound for the vic tory over Arctic. Arctic held a 4-3 lead after four innings but T & C collected three of their seven hits in the contest to push in two runs in the bottom of the fifth to pick up the win. Craig Soderquist suffered the loss for Arctic. Against Jaycees Bruce Amador finished his Little League season in style with a mound victory and a fine day at the plate including a home run in his final trip to the plate. Mark Rollo of T & C and Steven Esplin of Jaycees also doubled in the contest. Jed Black was on the mound for Jaycees. In the other game of the week Lions maintained their winning ways with -12-7 win over Jaycees. Lions sent Cannon, Robbie Stevens and Todd Wood to the mound. Chuck Embley hurled for Jaycees.
