It was not until the fifth that State Bank collected a "pair of hits including a double by Myers to push in two runs and ice the victory. Smith and Slack shared mound duty for State Bank. Ace Hardware, the first half leaders, came into contention in the second half with a pair of wins during the week. They defeated Utah International 8-6 and outlasted California-Pacific to pick up a 11-10 win. Ace had a pair of big innings pushing in seven runs in the fourth and with only one hit pushed in four runs in the seventh for the win. Kevin Robinson scored the mound victory. Kurt Nielson and David Smith shared mound duty for Cal-Pac. Against Utah International Webb, Sellers and Robinson all saw mound duty. UI took an early lead with three tallies in the first and two in the third to lead 5-0. Ace came back with five runs on three hits including doubles by Messer and Webb then scored three runs in the fifth on five hits for the win. Del Rich came into contention with a pair of victories and a reversal of a loss against Utah International on a protest for a three game win swing in the standing. Del Rich defeated Canyonland 9-3 in this week's action then downed D. W. Corry 10-6 in action Monday evening. Dale and Dave Corry shared the mound duties for the win over Canyonland and it was Wade McDonough and Dave Corry sharing mound duty for the win over Corry Real Estate. In other action of the week Canyonland outlasted Parowan for a 9-8 victory Monday night, Utah International put on their hitting shoes to breeze past TWA Services 20-7 to set the stage for the final week of play. Action continues in the Senior Little League through Wednesday, Wed-nesday, July 21. , ' The following day Cedar City will host a six-team Senior Little League Division Tournament with games to begin at 3 p.m. that afternoon. |
