Show LaVand Bauer, Educator, Church Worker dies; Honored at Services ' '"Ute ' ! III, p S. LaVand Bauer, 65, died April 9, 1978, of a massive heart attack while regulating an irrigation stream at his field. He was born in Cedar City, Utah Feb. 22, 1913 to Samuel Elliker and Catherine Roselia Hunter Bauer. Married Virginia Wilcock June 3, 1936 in the St. George Temple. He was educated in the Cedar City Schools. He graduated from BAC in 1934, In 1951 he was awarded his Bachelor of Science Degree from CSU. His master of Education Degree was awarded him at the Utah State University of June 6, 1964 in Logan, Utah. He has been active in the L.D.S. Church having served as Counselor and President of the Elders Quorum. He was ward clerk and then second counselor to Bishop Austin Heywood in the Cedar Third Ward Bishopric. He has served as a Temple Ordinance worker in the St. George Temple for 31 years. At the time of his death he was serving as a Home Teacher, Class Instructor of a High Priest Group and a Temple Ordinance Worker. He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters and a sonMrs. Evan (Janine) Jolley and Mrs. Garlan (Ruth Mane) Mitchell both of Cedar City and Daniel LaVand of Sandy. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren grand-children 2 brothers and three sisters: Joseph Waldorf, Mrs. Frank (Minera) Kelsey, both of Cedar City ; Mrs. Jonathan (Minetta) Hunt of Enterprise; Keith and Mrs. Thomas (Garnet) Hunt, both of Spanish Fork. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, April 12, 1978 at 12:00 Noon in the Cedar 14th L.D.S. Ward Chapel. The family prayer was offered by Waldorf Bauer with Ada Palmer playing the prelude, postlude music and Reed Cox giving the invocation. Musical selections consisted of" a vocal duet by Christ and Raina Bishop, "As I Have Loved, Love One Another," accompanied by Ada Palmer; and a Vocal Duet by Howard and Orma Wood "In The Garden" accompanied ac-companied by Ada Palmer. The speakers were Dr. J. S. Prestwich and Clemont Adams with remarks by Bishop Charles Esplin. The benediction was offered by Von Durrant and James Applegate dedicated the grave. Interment was in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of the Spilsbury and Graff Mortuary. S. LaVAND BAUER |
