Editor: It is with great alarm that I learn of the plan to register all firearms that have been purchased legally since 1968. This by executive order and even after there have been repeated unsuccessful attempts to push such a law through congress. The only conceivable explanation for such an attempt would be to make it possible to get control of our firearms at any time. What a shameful denial of our right to bear arms. Being one of the great majority of of Rights and who believes in my constitutional con-stitutional right to be secure in my home and to keep and bear firearms, I strongly protest this executive order. I urgently request that congress immediately revoke the proposed gun-list regulation. Mrs. I. utile C. Fish Box 473 Toquerville, Utah 81774 Editor: As a mother of elementary school children I am very concerned about the education of my chidren. I am also concerned con-cerned that my family provide a stable atmosphere for my chidren to grow and develop. I wonder whether these two important factors in the development of my children have to conflict? We in Kanarraville have often had to allow our children to attend different elementary schools. I feel very strongly that it is important that children in the same family be allowed to attend the same school! The children need each other to provide as much security as possible, especially as a kindergarten child begins his or her schooling. Not only does this help make starting school easier, but it also establishes strong family ties between bet-ween the family members involved. Is it absolutely necessary that every 2 to 3 years the Kanarraville children attend a different school? Is it necessary that the eight kindergarten children from Kanarraville attend a different- school than their older brothers and sisters this next fall? How can we as parents be active in different PTA's, and attend all of our children's special functions.which often are held at the same time? How would you chose which child's function you attend? Which child is the most important? and which is the least? I realize that this happens not only to Kanarraville students but also to students in many of the other areas, especially those children who ride buses. They are changed to different schools frequently. We in Kanarraville feel we have had more than our share of changes. We have students attending all three elementaries, and some of our families have even had children all three at the same time. Does this add to the stability of our families and communities? Does it add to the emotional stability of our children or does this make them feel unimportant and unwanted? How would you feel? Is it not time that we as parents ban together and say "No more -- This is not necessary." Barbara Allred LaDawn Williams Tressa Cornelius |
