Show Lady T-birds host 5 Game Series Southern Utah State's women's softball team returns home Friday and Saturday when they play host to five games. The lady T-Birds tangle with Adams State at 1 p. m. and 5 p. m. Friday. In between bet-ween that SU faces Snow College in a non-conference game at 3 p. m. On Saturday, Mexico Highlands comes to town for a double-header beginning at 2 p.m. Last week in Colorado, Coach Joy Peterson's squad won two of three games to move its record to 6-2 overall and 5-1 Intermountain Conference. SU won 13-10 over Western State, lost 3-2 to Metro State, then came back to whip Metro 7-1. Bonnie Cahill collected two hits, scored three runs, and had four runs batted in in the Western game. Susan Pedersen ahd three hits in the Metro loss while Janice Jensen allowed just five hits. The bats came alive in the second game against Metrol as the T-Birds pounded out 12 hits. Kendra Smith had three, while Lori Lambros, Natalie Smith, and Chris Tea all had two. Tea hurled a five-hitter for her third win of the year. Offensively for the Lady T-Birds, T-Birds, Lambros and Debbie Bone led the hitting attack with .435 averages. Six other Lady T-Birds hitting over .300 are Laura Bailey (.385), N. Smityh (.385), K. Smith (3.85), Tea (.385), Pedersen (.346), and Cahill (.333). On the pitching side, Tea is 3-1 with a 1.75 ERA, while Jensen is 1-1 with a 0.00 ERA. Shauna Mecham is 2-0 with a 4.11 ERA. |
