Show SUSC schedules Annual Telethon The 7th Annual SUSC Telethon is scheduled for April 11-12-13 and April 18 19 20. Each year the SUSC Alumni and students join with meml)ers of the Cedar City and Southern Utah communities to call friends of the college on the telephone. These calls go out over the entire nation, with pledges coming from many who wish to see the college continue it's excellent educational programs. Last year (1976-77) nearly $8,000 was collected from donors. Director of College Development Dennis Agle and Telethon Chairman Steve Van Dyke are looking forward to a similar goal for this year's calls. Volunteers from the studentbody will be joined by members of various community groups to call 5,000 names on lists kept by the school. These lists include the parents of current students, alumni, past donors, community leaders, and anyone who has expressed an interest in the college or its programs. Most donations are relatively modest, and come in the form of a pledge given to the caller for the college. A follow-up letter is then sent with a return envelope and form which the person making the pledge can use. The personal "thank you" of the person who made the original call is included with the letter. Interested members of the college community who wish to help with the telethon should call Mr. Agle or Dr. Van Dyke at the campus. Top pledge collectors each night will receive a special award, and refreshments will be served for all workers. "When your phone rings," said Dr. Van Dyke, "we hope you will give generously. SUSC is a grand college, and you're an important part of our future." |
