Show Capco hangs onto SLL Lead CAPCO picked up a 2-0 victory over CP National in action this past week to virtually wrap up first place in the first half standing of the Cedar Senior Little League. The first half of play ended with action Wednesday evening with CAPCO going against P.K. Home Center. A win would have iced the first half championship a loss could drop them to a tie with TWA Services, at the worst. In picking up the win Gobler was the winning pitcher for CAPCO with Alger suffering the loss. CAPCO only had two hits but managed to push in the runs for shutout victory. After three scoreless innings in-nings CAPCO pushed in the tie breaker in the fourth with Beatty stealing second and third and scoring on a passed ball. The second run came in the fifth frame when Soderquist walked and came on to score on an error. Only extra base hit in the contest was a double by Bladen of CP National. Standings through Monday Mon-day night's play were as follows: CAPCO 6 0 TWA Services 6 1 CP Natl 5 2 UUihlnternatl 1 3 P.K.Home 1 3 Del Rich 1 4 Century 21 1 4 State Bank 0 4 In one of the closest battles of the first half of play Del Rich scored a 1-0 victory over Centuiry 21. Scoreless through four innings Del Rich finally broke the tie when Morris singled, Neilson singled and Amador walked to load the bases. Morris came on to score on another walk to Garrett. Winning pitcher was Corry Neilson giving up four hits in the shutout. Kyle Kingsford suffered the loss after giving up only three hits. In other action during the week it was capco scoring a 11-5 victory over Utah International. In-ternational. Paris was the winning pitcher and Stephenson suffered the loss. Doubles were hit by Gubler of CAPCO and Embley of UI . TWA Servic Services remained in a challenging position with a 16-0 victory over State Bank. Carter threw a no-hitter inscoring the shutout. Doubles in the game were hit by Dave and Dirk Lopour and Averett. Another victory by TWA Services was a 9-2 victory over CP National. Again it was Carter on the mound. He gave up one hit and collected 10 strikeouts over the five innings of play. CP Nat. put Alger and Larsen on the mound. TWA pushed in five runs in the second inning to take command of the game early. Carter hit a triple in the contest. Dave Lopour had a pair of doubles and Holmes a double, all for TWA Services. PK Home Center collected their first win of the season with a 14-7 win over Del Rich. Black and Sellers were on the mound for the win. Sellers and Engle both of PK had doubles as did Morris of Del Rich. |
