Go ve rn o r a tte n d s S co u t Brea kf ast PAROWAN - Scott Matheson, Utah's Governor, along with family and friends were welcome early morning visitors to the First Annual Second Ward Memorial Day Breakfast held Monday. The governor, along with his wife Norma and sons, feasted on ham, eggs, and all the pancakes they could eat in the warm morning sunshine. sun-shine. The breakfast sponsored by the Second Ward Scouts, was attended by 206 persons. "Perfect weather, perfect food. I sure hope they do this every year," was a common comment from those attending. at-tending. Plans are in the mill, Monte Lloyd, first counselor, indicated, to make it an annual event. The meal was planned by Scout Committee Members Ken Adams, Luella Smith, Emma Rassmussen, Jim Rassmussen, Richard Bratton, Craig Rowley, Gary Carter, Monte Lloyd, Alan Adams, Warren A. Dalton, Alma Adams and Earl Kellogg. Committee members also served the meal. The breakf ast, held on the east lawn of the First-Second Ward Building, netted nearly $300 for the scout troop. Scout master is Gary Carter, assisted by Craig Rowley. The hope is for the troop to become self-sufficient. Funds will be used for that purpose. |
