Show In our opinion - Valley signing deserves consideration, action The recent suggestion by a visitor to the Iron County Commission Com-mission meeting to begin a signing program in Cedar Valley meets with our approval. We are a little unsure at this stage who should support financially finan-cially the undertaking, but approve ap-prove nonetheless. For those streets yet to be improved, the developer should bear the initial cost, for those already in need of street signs, perhaps a portion of the county road budget or special signing funds can be made available. The need to have immediate knowledge of whereabouts is particularly important for emergency vehicles-ambulances, fire vehicles and police. Plus, there is the public convenience involved. The old days of "going to Joe's place, then turn left to the old cottonwood tree, until you hit the cattleguard" are just about gone. The need has been expressed and rightly so, to improve fire protection in Cedar Valley by initiating the street signing program. It should be part of the county masterplan. We hope the suggestion won't die on the vine. |
