Show Free Firewood near Beaver ) The Bureau of Land Mangement has a lot of firewood to cut in an area of public land near the town of Beaver. This firewood is to be removed prior to a controlled con-trolled burn planned by BLM, after which the area will be seeded to increase forage for livestock and wildlife, according to Paul L. Howard, BLM Utah State Director. As much as five cords of wood may be harvested free by individuals for personal home use, by permit. A pickup truck can hold up to one cord of cut firewood. Commercial cutters also are welcome, Mr. Howard said. They may obtain up to 50 cords of juniper and oak at $2 per cord as long as the supply lasts. Cutting permits may be obtained from the BLM Beaver River Area Office in the Federal Building, 82 North 100 East, Cedar City. Maps are provided with each permit and signs have been posted to identify the area. |
