Show Melinda Wilson SUSCValedectorian ' ' J V, . MELINDA WILSON Melinda Wilson, Cedar City, will give the valedictory address for the 213 graduating seniors at Southern Utah State College. She will speak during June 2 commencement exercises which will begin at 9 a.m. on the upper campus quadrangle. Baccalaureate Bac-calaureate services will be held June 1, beginning at 7 p.m., also on the upper campus quadrangle. Lucybeth Cardon Rampton, wife of former Utah Governor Calvin L. Rampton, will be the commencement com-mencement speaker. Retiring SUSC President Royden C. Braith-vvaite Braith-vvaite will give the baccalaureate sermon. The valedictorian was selected because of the 3.99 grade point average she earned while completing com-pleting requirements for a physical science composite major in chemistry, mathematics and geology, and a minor in Spanish. She will receive a teaching certificate in secondary education and plans to teach physical science and Spanish in northern Utah. The 1978 valedictorian is a 1972 graduate of Cedar High School where she was active in band, A Cappella Choir, and LDS Seminary activities. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Wilson, the second of eight children. Ms. Wilson received a four-year State Normal Scholarship to attend at-tend SUSC. She sang with the Utah Shakespearean Festival for five years and is a member of the Brian Head Ski Patrol. She is actively involved in LDS Church activities, serving a mission to Spain in 1975. |
