After returning home Sunday, the T-Birds leave Monday for Gunnison, Colorado, for a dual against Western State Tuesday. Wednesday, SUSC HEADS FOR Alamosa and a match with number two ranked (NAIA) Adams State. Last week both teams fared well in the prestigious Mountain Intercollegiate Wrestling Tournament. Adams placed sixth and Western finished eighth. Probably the toughest competition of the season faces the Southern Utah State wrestling squad this week as the T-Birds travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, and Fullerton and La Mirada, California. SUSC has duals with University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Thursday, and Cal State, Fullerton Friday. Saturday it's the 12th annual Biola Invitational. UNLV, which is 12-7 on the season, is led by Tyrone Rose (134). Rose has a 20-4 record; he placed second in the San Francisco Invitational In-vitational last week. Larry Buckner (142), 17-4, and Mike Garcia (167), 21-8, both placed fourth at the SF tournament. Cal State Fullerton knocked off the T-Birds earlier this season 31-8 in the opening round of the Biola Invitational. The Titans stand 8-8 and are coming off a 49-6 loss to number 19 ranked Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo. John Marshall (134), Randy Jarvis )150), and Phil Babcock (Hwt.) scored team points against the Titans in the first meeting. Fourteen teams are entered en-tered in the tournament, which is one of California's largest. Such standouts as UNLV, UCLA, Long Beach State, San Jose State, and Cal State Bakersfield, are entered. Bakersfield is the team to beat. The Roadrunners are ranked number 12 in the NCAA. They won the San Francisco Invitational last week. Last year the T-Birds could manage only five and one-half points.
