Show Reflections Contest planned by PTA Winners from the region will goon to the state contest and state winners will compete nationally. All winners will receive recognition on the local, council and regional levels. Awards will be given on the State and National Levels as well. The goal of the PTA through its Reflections contest is to encourage and recognize talent in the arts and to emphasize the value of cultural arts in the school. Several Iron County students have been State Winners in the past and it is hoped for a good representation again from this end of the state. The Iron Counth PTA Council and the Local PTA School Units are participating par-ticipating in the National PTA and State PTA Reflections contest. Reflections, a contest which began in 1969, is designed to provide children and youth with an opportunity op-portunity for creative ex-1 pression in the three art categories: 1. Visual Arts. 2. Literature and 3. Music. Both elementary and secondary students can compete in the four age group categories. Students wishing to participate can obtain information in-formation and entry forms from their school PTA organizations, their teachers or by calling Linda Bur-bidge, Bur-bidge, PTA Council Commissioner, Com-missioner, 586-4208. Entries can be in any or all of the three categories but must be the original work of one student. They can be done either at home or at school and should adhere to the theme "Love Is." Deadline for entries in the schools will be around the middle to the end of February. Check with local PTA Unit f for this information. The Council Deadline is March 1. The local unit PTA organizations will announce and recognize the winners from their school. The Iron County PTA Council will then have a second judging to determine which entries will be sent to the regional contest. |
