Show Creative Stitchery Classes at SUSC Classes in Creative Stitchery Stit-chery and Sewing With Knits will begin February 2 and 6 at Southern Utah State College. The winter quarter classes are being held especially for students and their spouses. Both , are non-credit courses being sponsored by State Vocational Education Funding. While c'asses have been developed particularly for student spouses, other interested persons will be admitted to either of the classes if space permits according to Ada Carpenter, Chairman of the SUSC Family Life Department. Creative Stitchery will begin February 2, All sessions will be held in the SUSC Family Living Center from 6-8 p.m. Sessions will be held each Thursday, February 2 - March 2, under the direction of former home economics teacher Emma Jean Rider. "Machine embroidery will be the first type of stitchery taught. There will be no need to bring any materials to class the first time," Mrs. Carpenter said. As the class progresses, students will work on other types of hand embroidery such as crewel, bargello, needlepoint and cross stitch. The Sewing With Knits class will begin February 6, continuing each Monday through February 27. These sessions will be held each week in the SUSC Family Living Center from 4-5:30 p.m. Cherilyn Calder, SUSC family life senior, will be the class instructor. She said that each student will select a beginning project using either recycled or new knit materials. Particular attention at-tention will be given to the construction of children's clothing. No advance registration procedures are required for either class and there will be no fees assessed Mrs. Carpenter said. |
