Show Running Rams Ramble past Beaver CD pi j if PAKOWAN - Coach Ralph Riggs and his running Rams racked up another victory Friday when they raced past the Beaver Beavers by a 68 to 57 score. The end of first quarter play saw the Rams with a 22 to 10 lead. Coach Riggs played 10 of his men giving some of the younger members of the team a chance for experience. Half time saw the lead narrowed to 37 to 31 but the Rams had no problem pulling away again to a 53 to 39 lead at the end of the third. Brad Fife poured in 24 points for the Rams. Mike B'vans hit for 14. Mike Robinson made 12 and pulled down 14 rebounds. Brent Rowley had 8 points, Kim Bess 6 and sophomore Pat Benson 4. Final score was 68 to 57. All five Ram starters are capable of scoring in the double figures and this has worked to their advantage, double teaming of some turns others loose to score for a well balanced game. Coach Riggs starts 5 seniors. Beavers coach Lynn Parsons Par-sons starts one, Dan Robertson. Robertson was high scorer for Beaver with 22 points, Shane Blackner added 13. An overflow crowd ! gathered Sat. night in I Parowan when the Rams j met the North Sevier j Wolves, and the Rams were ! caught standing as a fired up North Sevier crew ran the ball around through and over them to take a 13 point : first quarter lead, which made the difference in the game as North Sevier won i by 13, 68 to 55. Mike Evans who started : off cold, warmed up during the second half and scored 20 points 18 in the 2nd half. Brad Fife had 14 with 10 of SC'OKKS FOK HAMS. Mike Robinson and Brent Rowley netted 8 each, Pat Benson and Kim Bess each had 2 and Mike Thornton one. Robinson collected 10 rebounds and Evans 13. What does all this mean? Coach Riggs said that "North Sevier probably did us a favor by showing us where we were weak. We can now turn that weakness into a strength, thus making us a more complete and competitive team." Next Friday the Rams will take on Milfotd on the Tigers home court, and then the tough Gunnison Bulldogs will come to Parowan. The Rams defeated the Tigers in the first go round, but the Bulldogs won over Parowan on their Gunnison home court. Both games will provide exciting action for the fans. The Parowan club now has a 5-4 record in league play. Region 8 round robin will begin Feb. 24 and 25th and continue March 3rd and 4th in Panguitch. |
