Show I 1 SI',!1 J DR. GEORGE L. STREBEL Historical Society To Hear Lecture By Dr. Geo. Strebel Dr. George L. Strebel will conclude the season's lecture scries for the Iron County Historical His-torical Society May 25, at 8 p. m. The lecture will be held in the Library Lounge at the College of Southern Utah- Dr. Strebel wil review his dissertation for his Ph.D. entitled en-titled "Irrigation as a Factor in Western History." Dr. Strebel was awarded his Ph.D. from the University of California, Calif-ornia, Berkeley. Dr. Helen Rand Parrish, West Coast Editor of Vantage Books, edited Dr- Strebel's disserta- lion ior rne university or California. Cal-ifornia. Dr. Parrish stated that this was one of the most significant pieces of writing in Western History that had come to her attention. She felt the story told here of the Mormon way of life as is evidenced in the way of irrigation irri-gation presented a message the whole world needs at this time. Dr. Strebel was awarded a grant from the University of California to do research in preparing this dissertation. Dr. Strebel is associate director dir-ector of the LDS Institute of Religion at the College of Southern Utah. He is also Professor of European History for the Foreign Language League and will teach in five European countries during the months of July and August. |
