Show Man Blacksouts At Wheel; Causes Extensive Damage Two cars, a tree, and a fence were all hit Monday night by a car driven by LaMar Smith, 32, of Cedar City, when he apparently ap-parently blacked-out at the wheel. Smith was traveling north on 100 East street when he apparently ap-parently blacked-out and his car came to rest on the steps of the Community Presbyterian Presbyter-ian Church on the corner of 100 East and 200 North. In the process, however, his car struck the rear of a car belonging to Walter Hansink, sideswiped a pickup owned by Leland Heywood, struck and downed a tree in front of the Alex Hunter home, then crossed cross-ed the street to hit into a rock and cement fence post, carried through that and came to rest on the steps of the church. Smith remained unconscious for several hours, but was discharged dis-charged Tuesday after observation. obser-vation. Law enforcement officers-theorized officers-theorized that when Smith lost consciousness he must have in some way continued with his foot on the accellator in order for the car to cover as much distance and cause such damage. |
