ROBYN REID Reid Picks Up First Place In Track Meet The Cedar High School Red-men Red-men track and field team finished fin-ished fourth in the Region Eight competition and the following fol-lowing week, boosted themselves them-selves into third place in the State Class B finals at the University Un-iversity of Utah Saturday. Roby Reid was the top point getter and only first place winner win-ner for the Redmen as he bested best-ed all comers In a tight 100 yard dash and then nipped second place in the 180 yard low hurdles which was run in the fine time of 20.1 seconds. Reid covered the 100 yards in 9.9 seconds, best time of his career. Jtie was also a member mem-ber of the 880 yard relay team for the Redmen that finished in second place- Reid nosed out by inches Stan Young of Duchesne for the 100 yard victory and in turn was inched out in the low hurdles event by Dean Nelson of Emery. Peid got off to a slow start and had to chop his "tens to hit the first hurdle and found himself a full hurdle hur-dle behind. He nearly made it up at the wire, but had to be satisfied with second place. Other point getters for the Redmen included a fourth in the high hurdles by Kim Ma-theson, Ma-theson, a junior who will be back to try it again next year; a fourth in the 880 yard run by Mark Richtsteig; a fifth in the mile run by Mike Hoff. Members of the 880 yard relay re-lay team finishing second included: in-cluded: Reid, Richtsteig, Ma- theson and Wade Roberts. In team competition Emery won first place with 49 points. In second with 31 was Wasatch Was-atch and the Redmen garner-' ed 23 for third place. Other region eight placings included Delta fifth with 20 points, Dixie ninth with 11 points and Milford 15th with a total of 6V2 points. |
