Redemen Team Beat Kanab Cowboys 6 to 1 The Cedar High School Redman Red-man baseball team moved one step closer to repeating as Region Re-gion Eight champions last week as they downed the Kan. ab Cowboys 6 to 1. Game was played over seven innings inn-ings on the Cedar City Municipal Muni-cipal diamond. Wayne Esplin threw a two hitter against the Cowboys j while his teammates were col-1 lecting a total of nine hits. Only Kanab run came in the fourth frame when a single sin-gle and an error advanced a runner to third base where he came on to score on a passed ball. The Redmen got off to a quick start, pushing in thrae runs in the first frame. They added a pair in the third, and scored the sixth run in the sixth inning of play. Steve Rollo started the first inning with a single, Dale Hatch lived on an error, and they both scored on a triple by Wade Roberts. Roberts came on to score on a sacrifice sacri-fice fly by Bernell Thorley. In the third frame, Hatch singled, stole second base, and scored on a single by Roberts, and Roberts came on to score on a single by Thorley. In the sixth inning, Randy Clove started it with a single, moved to second on a passed ball, and was forced out at third. Esplin walked, moved on to third on a single by Mike Hulet, and scored the sixth run on a passed ball. In other action during the week, Dixie defeated Parowan 4 to 1 at St. George, and Enterprise En-terprise downed Hurricane. |
