Show Vacant Lots Are Number One Problem Unsightly vacant lots are the number 1 problem facing the Bcautification Committee, according to Forrest Hunter, chairman. This problem was discussed at great length by the Bcautification Committee at its Friday night meeting. The vacant lots are located in all areas of the city, some are even located in the heart of the Cedar City Business District. Many of the owners of the lots do not live here and have very little interest in the appearance of their property. Other lots are owned by Cedar City residents who find it a difficult job to keep them clean. "This year, we can really do something about this problem," Mr. Hunter reports. re-ports. "The lots can be cleaned clean-ed free of charge. They will be graded and smoothed so that the weeds can be mowed later on during the summer. This is much more effective than plowing." According to Mr. Hunter, the committee needs written permission to perform this service. They have had many offers of man power and big j equipment which will do the ' job if they have the permis-I permis-I sion of the property owners. All people who own vacant ' lots are requested to call Forrest For-rest Hunter and discuss it with him. The town must be com-, com-, pletely researched by May 1, the opening day of the big I clean-up campaign. i |
