Show ! C S D Sponsors Javelin I Clinic; Track 1 & Field Meet Saturday ion with the threo-way track meet. Scheduled to participate are the host Thunderbirds of CSU, Dixie and Snow College. Trials and major events of the meet are scheduled at 1:30 p. m. on the Cedar Junior High track. It is the third meeting of the three schools in track and field competition. The T-Birds garnered the team honors in the first meeting in St. George but last week at the Snow invitational the Rebels of St. George won the title with CSU winding up in third place. Saturday the T-Birds will be placed in the favorites role with one of the top point get-ers get-ers back and ready for action. Dick Held, manufacturer of ,; javelins and a noted author- j! ity in track and field activities i will hold a special clinic in ,,) Cedar City Saturday, April 20 :i in connection with a College in of Southern Utah sponsored ;i triangular track and field i meet. i Held, of southern California, ,n will give a lecture on the ,,s aerodynamics and latest tech- :i niques of throwing the javelin. The clinic is slated at 12:00 i noon on the college campus s and all interested sports fans :ii and coaches from throughout ..J the area have been invited to i; attend. 1 Immediately following the J lecture an exhibition on the ii) field will be given in connect- He is Craig Ross who won two events the long jump, the triple tri-ple jump and placed second in the pole vault. Aso expected to fair well in the evnt will be Darwin Peterson in the sprints. He captured both the 100 and 220 in St. George. Added Ad-ded the century at Snow but was nipped in the 220 in the Ephraim meet. Coach Steve Lunt will also be depending on Ken Nutter in mile and Gene DeMille in the javelin, since both of these two men won honors in the previous meetings of the three schools. Scoring Saturday With be on a 5, 3, 2, 1 basic for first, second, third, fourth and fifth places respectively. |
