Funeral services have been set for Friday, Feb. 10 at 2 p. m. in the Parowan Third Ward chapel. Viewing will be held Thursday from 7 to 9 p. m. at the Spilsbury Mortuary in Cedar City and Friday at tliei family home here from noon until time of services. Burial will be in the Parowan City cemetery. The deceased was born April Ap-ril 18, 1881, at Bluff, San Juan County, a son of William He-ber He-ber and Anna Hansen Gurr, but was a resident of Parowan most of his life. He married Grace Oliphant Jan. 25, 1905 In the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Nov. 9, 1957. He married mar-ried Elfreda T. Thompson April Ap-ril 2, 1960 In the St. George LDS Temple and LDS Temple. He was an active farmer and livestock operator up un- PETER H. GURR til his retirement and he and his sons built up one of the largest farm operations in this area. An active member of the LDS Church he served in many capacities in its organizations. He worked in the St. George Temple for nine years, served as president of the Parowan Stake High Priests quorum, served in the Sunday School superlntendecy. He served as a stake missionary and he and his wife served as missionaries missionar-ies in Hawaii from 1953 to 1955. He also served as a member of his ward finance committee. Surviving are his widow and the following children: Mrs. Jess (Golda) Guymon, Elmer O., Arnold O., Kendall O., of Parowan; Charles Heber, Beaver; Bea-ver; Mrs. C. J. (Gail) Parry, Mrs. D. W. (Ha) Corry, Cedar City; Mrs. Murray (Anna) Rawson, Orem, Utah; 42 grandchildren and 34 greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. Also surviving are step-children: Joseph C. Thompson, Salt Lake City; Irene T. Peterson, Peter-son, Marysvale, Calif.; Agnes T. Arns, Cedar City; Alice T. Nelson, Twin Falls, Idaho, and a sister, Luella G. Lowder, Cedar Ce-dar City. |
