Cedar High Takes Honors at Dixie Invitational Forensic Contest Cedar City High School walked off with first place honors at the Dixie College Invitational In-vitational High School Forensics Foren-sics Meet Saturday, February 4. Other high schools participating partici-pating were Dixie, Hurricane, Richfield and Valley. Of the four events listed, Cedar Ce-dar took three first place honors hon-ors and one second place. In the debate competition, first place went to Rick Parry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthon Parry and Jody Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rowan Row-an Williams. Rick, a senior, received a full tuition scholarship scholar-ship to Dixie College. Jody a I against every bill that came up. Mrs. Betty Murdock, forensics forens-ics teacher, and Miss Maxilyn Capell, drama teacher, accompanied accom-panied the group to St. George. Registration was at 8 a. m. in the Fine Arts Center auditorium. auditor-ium. From 8:30 until noon the final rounds of debate and ex-temperaneous ex-temperaneous speaking and oratory contests began. Legislative Legis-lative forum began at 2:30 and continued through the afternoon. after-noon. At 6:00 p. m. the group reassembled re-assembled for a brief awards' program before returning home. sophomore, received a trophy. In the extemporaneous speaking division, Richfield High took first place but Eugene Eu-gene Dalley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dalley, received alternate al-ternate scholarship honors. Terrie Gilger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Gilger, took first place in oratory and a full tuition scholarship to I Dixie College. Second place and an alternate scholarship! went to Dave Farnsworth, son ' of Dr. and Mrs. Reed Farns- j worth. First place winner in the legislative forum was Terry. Woolf, son of Dr. and Mrs. I Eugene Woolf. This came as a ' surprise to Terry because he! wasn't even listed In this event. He just walked in the House and began arguing |
