Tigers Battle Friday For League Lead Cedar 4 1 .800 Hurricane 3 1 .75G Enterprise 3 2 .600 Dixie 2 3 .400 Kanab 0 5 .000 This week's action will play an important part in the standings in the southern division divi-sion of Region Eight basketball. basket-ball. Top game of the week will be the battle between the Cedar Ce-dar High Redmen and the Hurricane Tigers. The game Is slated for the Hurricane Court Friday night at 8 p. m. and the winner will take over the leadership of the Region race. To date the Redmen have held down the top rung of the standings, but a loss last week to the Dixie Flyers virtually vir-tually threw the race into a tie between the Tigers and the Redmen. Hurricane was idle In league play and left them with one less game than the Redmen. In the loss column, col-umn, however, the two squads are all knotted with one loss each. Hurricane's loss came at the hands of the Redmen in the first round of play and It was a slim three point margin, 53 to 50, on the Redmen's court here in Cedar City. In that game the Redmen led throughout but were unable un-able to break away for a big lead, although they took a substantial lead in the opening open-ing minutes. The Tigers have been particularly par-ticularly tough on their own court where they seem to have the floor marked for shooting accuracy. Against the Dixie Flyers Hurricane put on one of the finest scoring efforts in the league this year to defeat the Flyers 69 to 61. The Redmen will have to be up for this one. In other action In the division divi-sion Enterprise will be at St. George to meet the Flyers and this also will have an effect on the final outcome in the league race. The Flyers, suffering some first half blues, started out with a bang in the second half by defeating the Redmen and are expected to dump the Wolves of Enterprise Friday at St. George. Idle Kanab remains in the cellar although they have played some fine ball this season. j |
