PHS Operetta Draws Wide Acclaim j With the auditorium filled to capacity last Friday evening, all present were thrilled at the performance per-formance of the cast and chorus of the Parowan High School's annual operetta production, 'The Belle of Bagdad." Many of those attending expressed their opinion opin-ion that it was one of the best such productions ever presented by the school. The principals in the cast did an outstanding job In putting over the performance, which was directed by L. N. Asay. music instructor at the school, and adding add-ing much to the production were the stage setting and beautiful costumes which had been prepared pre-pared for it. The costumes, rather than being be-ing rented, were made from rich silks and satins purchased especially espec-ially for the presentation, with students making the costumes under the direction of Mrs. Alice Gardner of the school homemak-Ing homemak-Ing department. They are now the property of the school. The background mural depicting depict-ing the market place in Badgad, was done by three students, Annette An-nette and Suzanne Jakeman and Lois Ann Butcher, who were also al-so prominent in the cast. The accompanying ac-companying picture gives a good idea of the background setting This was also accented by a profuse pro-fuse array of tropical flowers and plants as well as silks and satins decorating the front of the stage. : The acting of the cast principals princi-pals is to be attributed to Mrs. Jean Hendrickson, who was in charge of the dramatic sequences.
