Show Cedar and Dixie fit Tie in Division Play DIXIE DIVISION STANDINGS Cedar 5 1 .825 Dixie 5 1 .825 Enterprise 3 3 .500 Hurricane 14 .200 Kanab 0 5 .000 Cedar High School and Dixit High School will clinch berths in the State Class B tournament next week if each can pick up a win. Regardless of the outcome of the games both teams are guaranteed guar-anteed no less than a tie for second sec-ond place in the final standings with Just two weeks of play left. This year, both the first and second sec-ond place teams will advance to the state finals and the two schools are deadlocked for the Dixie Division championship and all indications are tht it will probably remain that way to the end of the season. ' Friday evening the Cedar High Redmen travel to Enterprise to meet the Wolves A win for Coach Bruce Decker and his crew would assure the team of no less than second place. Enterprise with a three win and three loss record must win to stay In the running for a state berth this year. Dixie actually draws a bye- in league competition this week and in the other contest Hurricane will be at Kanab. Should Cedar High win, it would put both Cedar and Dixie into the state playoffs with Enterprise En-terprise being eliminated from the race. Only the final league standings would then be left to be determined. Dixie defeated Enterprise by a score of 69 to 45 last week, making mak-ing it two in a row over the Wolves by the St. George team. The Redmen defeated Enterprise in the first round of play by a wide margin of 65 to 32. In the game the Redmen were in control con-trol all the way. However, high school games can be unpredictable unpredict-able and Coach Decker has been drilling hard to impress the Ce-der Ce-der Redmen with the Importance of the game. Enterprise, second place winner win-ner in the Dixie Division last year, and a team with a number of returning lettermen, was pegged peg-ged as one of the top teams of the division this year. Although the performance of the Wolves up to this point has not been outstanding, the threat Is always there with strong capabilities, Decker Indicated. |
