Show Utah National Guard To Select Queen in State Finals State finals in the Miss Utah National Guard Pageant will be held March 24 In the University of Utah's Kingsbury HaJl. This was announced today by Brig. Gen. Maxwell E. Rich, Utah adjutant ad-jutant general. Twenty-five finalists final-ists representing National Guard units and twenty communities throughout the state will vie for the Guard crown, General Rich said. The contest this year will be open to the general public and a high attendance is expected for the finals. The competition will parajlel the Miss America and Miss Utah Pageants. Each contestant will be scored for a 3 minute talent test, her appearance appear-ance in bathing suit and evening gown, and for personality and poise. The Queen of 5.300 Utah National Guardsmen also will be Utahs' entry In the Washington. D. C, Cherry Blossom Festival In April 1956. It also Is planned to enter Miss Utah Nationa! Guard and her two attendants In the Miss Utah Pageant of September 1957. Finalists will include queens for the following Utah communities: com-munities: Salt Lake City, Murray, American Fork, Bountiful, Cedar City. Brigham City, Heber, Lay-ton, Lay-ton, Lehl, Logan, Mantl. Mt Pleasant, Ogden, Provo, Price, Spanish Fork, St. George, Tooele and Vernal. Miss Eleanor Adams of Paro-wan, Paro-wan, who at the annual National Guard Military Ball, was selected select-ed as Queen of the 213th, will represent the local unit In the state finals, competing with the other finalists from all parts of the state for the coveted slate title. |
