Show Primary Election Conducted by CSU Students For Nominations of 1956-57 School Leaders I Students' of the College of Southern Utah conducted their primary election Friday to name candidates for student body offl- cers for the 1956-57 school year. Two candidates for each of the three offices to be filled, president, presi-dent, vice president, and secre-. secre-. tary, were named in the primary balloting in which more than 75 per cent of the student body participated. par-ticipated. Nominated for the position of president were Royce Chamberlain Chamber-lain and Morris Slack, both of Cedar City. Slack, a freshman student at the college this year, served as student body president at the Cedar City High School, and also as president of the Region Re-gion Six student body association associa-tion in his senior year in high school. He was extremely active in all high school affairs, and has continued the same leadership leader-ship in college this year. Chamberlain Is a graduate ol VaUey High School at Orderville, and came to Cedar City after completing a mission for the LPS Church. One of the leaders fn school activities, he is president of the Bacea Club, education student stu-dent organization. He is an education edu-cation major and partlculary active ac-tive In music circles at the college. col-lege. Nominated for the position of vice president were Betsy Fillmore Fill-more of Beaver and Juanita Chamberlain, Orderville. Candidates Candi-dates for secretary are Afton Jolley, Jol-ley, Tropic, and LoRen Orton, Parowan. Eugene Hcjman, Delta, student body president this year, states that the final election will be held Friday, with Miss Jolley and Miss Fillmore appearing on the ticket with Mr. Slack, and Miss Chamberlain and Miss Orton teaming with Mr. Chamberlain. |
