Failure to keep up a steady, consistent drive, coupled with a "coolness" at the basket, particularly on foul tries cost the Redmen the game and a chance to .stay in the race for state honors'. hon-ors'. The Cedar team, led by Terry Rosenberg, outscored the Pleas-ant Pleas-ant Grove team from the field. IS to 16, but rang up onjy 6 . .1 points in 12 attempts from the foul line, while the winners were turning 21 charity tosses into 13 points for the victory. Rosenberg connected for 14 points on six field goals and two for two at the foul line before fouling out early in the second half. The Redmen will move Into the consolation bracket, meeting Uintah Uin-tah this evening. The Uintah team, although highly favored in opening round piay. was dumped out of the championship bracket by a fighting team from Morgan. With Rosenberg leading the scoring, Sheldon Hefner and Otis McCall working well on the bankboards and Ret-d Heywood and Ken Griener rustling the ball, the Redmen controlled the game through most of the first half. Hefner and Griener put Cedar Ce-dar into a 4 to 0 lead with two quick shots, but Pleasant Grove tied the score wiih shots by Trimble and Bucknor. Rosenberg put Cedar into the .'cad again with two foul shots, but Winters matched these with a field goal. From that point to the end of the quarter Cedar held onto the lead, at one point by a 13 to 8 margin, and was leading 15 to 12 at the end of the quarter. In the second quarter Rosenberg Rosen-berg and Hefner kept Cedar in thel ead, maving to a 21 to 16 lead, dropping back to a one point margin 21-20, then taking a 23-20 margin, before the Gravers Grav-ers rallied to Jump into a 27 to 23 lead at half time. With about two minutes left in the hajf Cedar Ce-dar suddenly lost control of the bankboards and with it control of the game, allowing the ultimate ulti-mate victors to take a lead that they never relinquished. As the second half opened the Pleasant Grove boys continued to control the boards and as a result re-sult ran up a 11 point, 38 to 27 margin. With victory slipping away from them the Cedar players play-ers once again began going up on the boards and rustling better to gain control and with Hefner Hef-ner and McCall each hitting two field goals, got batk into the game, closing the gap to three points, 38 to 35. However. P. G. rallied to jump back to a 43 to 35 lead, before McCall hit from the field and Ray Bauer added a foul shot to move closer, and although Winters Win-ters added a foul shot. Heywood and Griener added field goals to again move to within three points. However, time ran out on the Redmen and they lost, 45 to 42.
