Show HAPPENINGS IN PARAGONAH I By Nora Lund Mrs. John C. Barton received word Saturday that her sister, Mrs. James (Ellen Reynolds) Holyoak of Geronimo, Ariz., had died of a heart attack. Funeral services were held Monday. MrJ and Mrs. Barton and Mr. and Mrs. Milton L. Daly of Parowan, left immediately to attend the services. j The Holyoaks are former residents resi-dents of Paragonah. Mrs. Holy-oak Holy-oak was born In Pangultch, the daughter of Josiah and Elizabeth Norton Reynolds, but came here to live following her marriage, where three of her sisters lived. They were Mrs. Harriet Thornton, Mrs. Emily Daily and Mrs. Nora Barton. They left here in the late 18808 to help pioneer that section of Arizona. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Barton of St. George called on Mrs. Eva Top-ham Top-ham on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Lund attended at-tended the funeral services for Mrs. Lund's uncle, Jesse Lem-man Lem-man In Hurricane on Wednesday. Kenny Topham, Heber Lund and Duane Lamoreaux. the accordion ac-cordion trio, were among the musical mu-sical students from the Parowan High School who traveled to Ka-nab Ka-nab Wednesday to participate in the Region Six ensemble and solo festival. Joseph E. Smith of Cedar City spent Sunday here with his sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Delia Topham and husband, hus-band, George. Mrs. Pauline Topham and sons traveled to Panguitch Wednesday Wednes-day where they were Joined by Joseph Miller and Violet who went on to Kanab to the music festival and to visit with a sister. sis-ter. Mrs. Jim Reynolds. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Robinson are rejoicing over the arrival of their third son at the Iron County HospitaJ on Tuesday, Mar. 6. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Chester Robinson and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Johnson, Parowan. The i great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ellis' Robinson, Paragonah.. Mr. and Mrs. Arch Lamoreaux of St. George. Earl Gillies. Bell, Cal-1 if., a and Mrs. Met tie Smith, Salt, Lake" City. , The MIA speech and music' ! festival held Tuesday evening under the direction of Mrs. Iris Jones and Mrs. Sarah Robinson, was enjoyed by a large crowd. The participants in the ward fes-. tival wll Jjoin the other wards of this MIA region for a mass presentation of this same program pro-gram in the C S U fieldhouse in Cedar City, Mar. 31. The Relief Society organization presented a most interesting program, pro-gram, based on the scriptures, Sunday in Sacrament meeting. Those taking part were Mrs. Dor-tha Dor-tha Barton, Mrs. Delia Topham, Mrs. Alda Robinson, Mrs. Evelyn Davenport, Mrs. Pauline Topham and Mrs. Bertha Topham. The Singing Mothers gave two musical musi-cal numbers, with Melva Barton, president, conducting the program. pro-gram. Bishop Robinson gave a short talk. Stake officers present were Mrs. Violet Hulet and Mrs. Mary Lawrence of Summit, and Mrs. Ruth Boardman of Paragonah. Paragon-ah. Mrs. HUda Evans Pearce and Mrs. Maurine Stubbs of Klamath Falls, Ore., were guests of Mrs. Eva Topham, Mrs. Lavern Stevenson Steven-son and Mr. and Mrs. J. Leonard Leon-ard Topham on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Yardley Mr. and Mrs. Jack Yardley, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Yardley and Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Yardley, all of Beaver, Bea-ver, were here Tuesday evening to visit with Mr. and Mrs. John R. Robinson of Meeker, Colo. Mrs. Verda Heffner of Salt Lake City spent the week end visiting with Mrs. Sadie Stones. She was accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Jean Kirkham of Cedar City. When Mrs. Heffner returned Monday, Mon-day, she was accompanied by her cousin. Rex Robinson, and daughter Llnd, who went on to their home in Rifle, Cola Mrs. Dale Gordon and her two children are here to spend some time with her parents, Mr. and 'Mrs'. Grant Jones. Her husband will soon be released from the service and then they will go on to Drlggs, Idaho, to make their home. Dale Smith accompanied his sister here but returned to his home in California. |
