Show Rams Drop Marysvale In First Tournament Game The Parowan High School basketball bas-ketball team won its first game in the State Class B tournament Wednesday night when the Rams took the measure of the strong Marysvale team In the last game of the day by a 45 to 40 score. But they didn't do so well this afternoon, Thursday, when they ran up against the strong Red Devils from Springvllle. In this game they played on even terms with the ultimate victors until Don Stubbs fouled out as the sec-ond sec-ond half opened, and they fell steadily behind to lose by a 57 to 41. This dropped them from the championship bracket and they , wUl play North Sevier Friday evening In the third round. ; In the game with Marysvale ; Coach Dick Jones' Rams took an early lead of 8 to 0 and werei ahead 8 to 5 at the end of the1 first period. Parowan slowed down in the second period and, the Marysvale Bulldogs came up to tie the score at 18 al. In this I period Parowan scored only six points to 13 for Marysvale. In the third quarter of play the Rams cut loose again to score 17 points to a slim four for the Bulldogs to take a 33 to 22 lead. The Bulldogs roared back in the final period to score 18 points to 10 for the Rams, but the lead piled up in the third period held out and they finished ahead by a 45 to 40 score. Parowan got 15 field goals to 13 for Marysvale. Parowan had 19 foul shots' and converted 15 of them while the Bulldogs had 21 shots and converted 14 of them Simkins led the Ram scoring with 11 points, followed by Stubbs and Whitney with 10 each. Thornton got 8 Mitchell 2 and DaUy 2. For Marysvale Sylvester got 21 points with Cutler getting get-ting 8 and Ward following with 4. |
