Show Announces Shakespearian Drama The C S U Theatre Guild, through the cooperation of the Yergensen Brothers, will bring to southern Utah movie patrons another an-other Shakespeare classic with the showing Monday and Tuesday Tues-day of "Othello," It was announc ed by Richard M. Kowiey, acting chairman of the division of English Eng-lish and speech. Starring In the movie will be Orson Welles in the title role of Othello, the Moor of Venice. In the supporting cast are Michael MacLlamolre as Iago, the arch vtlllan, and Suzanne Cloutler as Desdemona. MacLlamolre is a prominent Irish actor who Is a member of the famed Gate Thea-tre Thea-tre company of Dublin. Miss Cloutler is a Canadian actress whose beauty and qualities of voice make her particularly suitable suit-able for the role. The movie was filed on location loca-tion in North Africa with the company of talented international internation-al actors, and has been hailed by movie critics as one of the great film trlumps in our times. TIME Magazine says the film "carries the stamp of genius all the way through." It is also cited as an award-winning movie by Parents Magazine and many other publications' publi-cations' endorse the classic en-thuslastlcally. en-thuslastlcally. "Othello," is, in many ways, the greatest of Shakespeare's plays. It is perhaps his most carefully care-fully written, Prof. Rowley stated. It has but a single plot which builds In intensity continuously until the climax. Proceeds from ticket sales on the movie will be turned over to the scholarship fund of the Theatre Thea-tre Guild to provide scholarship for deserving students In speech and drama. |
