Show Street Improvements "Rapid development of residential areas on the outskirts of Cedar City is creating a number of traffic problems particularly par-ticularly in the way of feeder street improvements that must be solved in order to create orderly flow of traffic. One of these, and" perhaps the most important one at the present time, is 400 South Street from Main Street west. Many homes have been built in the past few years in the southwest section of the city which has tremendously in-creasod in-creasod travel on the above-mentioned street. The street U very narrow and in addition has a number of features .that limit the traveling space. An Irrigation canal runs along most of the street which materially reduces the width of the street insofar as automobile auto-mobile use is concerned. Another obstacle is the location of utility poles on the street. For about two blocks this is particularly an obstacle. Electric power poles are located on the same side as the irrigation canal, These do not present pre-sent a problem at present because the canal prevents the use of the footage. However, from 100 to 300 West Street are located telephone poles that carry trunk lines. This seriously narrows the street at the point of heaviest travel. It is understood that these poles will be moved when a proposed telephone company development program is finally fin-ally approved. Also Mayor Arnold Anderson reports that the city plans to oil surface the street this summer from 450 West street where the surfacing now ends, on west. These two improvements will help materially. However, with more and more homes to be built in the area, the travel will increase proportionately, which will necessitate definite and immediate improvements on the street. It seems that in the near future the canal must be removed re-moved from the street and that portion of the street leveled. IX will also probably become necessary to surface the entire width of the street, not just the roadway in the middle. Another regulation that will undoubtedly become necessary neces-sary will be to prohibit the parking of automobiles on this street, even with parallel parking. The street will continue con-tinue to be a main feeder street for the residential area and consequently should receive immediate attention by city 'administrators to meet the situation before it becomes a serious traffic problem.
