Show Redmen Thinclads to Attend Dixie Meet I An untried, untested and quite Inexperienced squad of Redman tracksters will venture to the warmer climate of the south Friday, Fri-day, April 11, for the annual Dixie Invitational Track and Field meet. The Redmen, under the guidance guid-ance of Coach Hal Norton, arc untried and untested as a result of the Inclement weather which has given the thinclads little if any opportunity to work out under un-der conditions anywhere near favorable for track and field wrk. They are inexperienced because be-cause only a few of the squad members are returning from last, year's squad. However, Coach Norton has a number of promising prospects and a number of previously tested test-ed men who could be developed into a well rounded squad. The Dixie Invitational Is the first meet of the season, not only on-ly for the Redmen but for most of the high schools in this area The Redmen are not the only squad that has been hampered by weather either, with the exception ex-ception of a few cases In Utah's Dixie where even storms have been prevalent, but the few good days have been warmer, the teams of this section of the state have been hampered in their attempts at-tempts at outdoor practice. Coach Norton has some strong entries in the dashes led by Gary Anderson, who placed well in the State finals last year. Gary Matheson, state champion in the javelin event, will be another strong entry for the Redmen, but some of the other field events will be slim as far as experience goes. The following week the Red men will participate in the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University Invitational Invita-tional at Provo. |
