Show i Cedar City Social Swing Mrs. Glen Froyd was the hostess host-ess for the meeting of the H and II Club on Thursday. The ladies i were entertained by Thelma Hlg- bee as she reviewed the study she has recently completed on the past history of Cedar City, with emphasis being made on the former bands and the com- ! munity activities carried on. Mrs. I Higbee had on hand many pictures pic-tures of former Cedar resident which were found very interesting interest-ing by those present. Following the review an informal infor-mal discussion was enjoyed as the hostess served light refreshments. refresh-ments. I Tuesday evening Mrs. Bruce Osborne entertained her sewing (club and guests. The evening ,was spent visiting and sewing , on individual Items. Dessert was served by the hostess as the sewing sew-ing activities drew to a close. I On Thursday as Mr. and Mrs. Hunter I'?lson and Mrs. Bill Dov-1 I er alighted from a plane at the j Salt Lfike airport, they ended ! their four weeks of travel which took them to many interesting places between here and Puerto Rico. Meeting their son and daughter, Pvt. and Mrs. Clark Hirschl In San Juan, Puerto Rico, they made their headquarters at the Hirschl home where they greatly enjoyed their visit. Tours were taken of the islands from coast to coast and the sights seen will long be remembered. The blue cobbled streets of San Juan as laid by the early Spaniard Span-iard conquerors and the many other wonders of that city were found very Interesting from ? historical standpoint by the wo men. They enjoyed a short trip on the Caribbean Sea where they marveled at the beauty of the phosphorescent bi.y. St. Thomas, largest of the Virgin Vir-gin Islands, and a visit to Blue Beard's castle for lunch was another an-other highlight along with the visit to Haiti and Jamaica on their return trip to the States. Lt. Col. and Mrs. Thomas Foley of Lake Charles, La., are announcing an-nouncing the arrival of their second sec-ond boy. Mrs. Foley is the former form-er Mary Leone Halght, daughter of Herbert Halght of this city. Mrs. Pete Bess entertained six ' I teen members of her neighborhood neighbor-hood club ladies on Tuesday evening. The evening was spent j sewing and visiting after which refreshments were served. j In Salt Lake City over the week end were Mr. and Mrs. Burton White and Mr. and Mrs. Von Thomas. i Mr. and Mrs. James Sandberg and daughter traveled to Salt Lake for the Easter week end. Hosts to eight couples for an evening of square dancing on Friday were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Banks. The dancers met at the stake house for the early part of the evening after which they gathered at the Banks home for a chili supper. Enjoying the eve-inlng eve-inlng with cl b members were I Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Brooks-by. As Mr. and Mrs. C. Leland Dalley left Cedar City this week, it was with great expectation that they looked forward to meeting their son, Leland Stan-' ford Dalley, who will arrive at the Salt Lake airport the latter part of the week, As an LDS missionary, Mr. Dalley has been serving In Germany. After traveling trav-eling in France and making a ! visit to the World's Fair in Brussels, Brus-sels, Belgium, he traveled to England where he departed on the S S United States liner for New York where he arrived today. to-day. After visiting in Salt Lake and American Fork with family members, the traveler will return re-turn to Cedar City with his parents. |
